WHAT'S CAMPUS FOOD INSECURITY?

The first project I completed was a pecha kucha - a presentation in which twenty slides are displayed for twenty seconds each with voiceover. My purpose in creating this presentation was to provide an overview of what food insecurity is and how it affects college students in the United States. To complete the pecha kucha, I researched the topic extensively. Before I could investigate the problem at JMU, I needed to understand what the literature said about hunger among college students more generally. I learned that food insecurity is one of many symptoms of poverty that college students experience. The demographic of college attendees is changing, and so are the needs of those students. Food insecurity is a growing problem, but more and more campuses are stepping up to provide better resources to their students. At the end of the video, I issue a call for JMU to address the problem, as well.
